Choosing a winch
Give the make, model and year of the vehicle and its gross weight rating from the registration document. If you already have a bumper or mounting plate, say which — that narrows the choice more than the pull figure does.
Repair
Give the part number from the plate on the winch housing and describe the symptom as precisely as you can: does it run both ways, do the lights dim, is there a noise. That halves the diagnostic time.
Parts
The winch part number plus the part number if you know it. If you do not, describe what failed — and do not order on a hunch.
